Celebrating 20 years of Edizon - our trip to the Zugspitze

20 years of Edizon – to celebrate this milestone and simultaneously continue our ongoing strategy workshop, our whole team went on a trip on May 04-06, 2022. As a symbol for the importance of the german market (next to the Austrian and Swiss market) for our business activities we decided for the Zugspitze as the chosen destination. With its height of 2962 metres, the Zugspitze is the highest mountain of Germany and rightly advertises itself with the nickname “Top of Germany”.  

During the bus ride, we began with a strategy workshop in which we discussed our further fields of action in small groups. Having almost arrived at our destination, our anniversary excursion began with an e-bike tour in the picturesque town of Mittenwald, Bavaria, during which we covered a total of about 1000 meters in altitude over a distance of 42 kilometers. The bike tour presented us with various challenges, from changeable weather with rain showers and sunshine to different ground conditions and alpine terrain as a route. Through strong team work, we were able to successfully master the first stage of our anniversary celebration, reached our hotel and then jointly ended the first day with a well-deserved dinner.  

“The mountain is calling” – this was the theme of the second day. We took the rack railroad to the intermediate station and were greeted with a fantastic snowy landscape and bright sunshine. From the intermediate station, a gondola took us up to just before the summit at 2962m. As a special highlight, we were able to climb the last meters in the snow to the summit cross on a via ferrata together with our coach (and experienced mountain guide) Stefan Gatt – this demanded a lot from our team but afterwords every team member was proud and very happy to have succesfully climbed on top of the Zugspitze. 

Afterwards, we continued our strategy workshop in small groups in the Panorama 2962 Restaurant and ended it with a group presentation and discussion. After our return we celebrated our 20th anniversary with a 10-course gala dinner at the Hotel Post in Lermoos. Our two managing partners, Gerald Steinwender and Martin Pattera, took the opportunity to congratulate some of our team members on their 5-, 10-, and 15-year anniversaries at Edizon. With excellent food and good drinks, we were able to strengthen our team spirit once again and revisited the highlights of the past 20 years together. 
 
During these two and a half days, we intensively worked out our future together at Edizon, got to know each other a bit better and were challenged together mentally and physically. We look forward to the coming years with great motivation!
