2. Use of your data and types of data
We only collect the personal data that is necessary for the performance and processing of our services, or that you have voluntarily provided to us.
We have made some of our publications available online for you to download. In order to download a publication, we ask that you provide the following information:
We also store the following additional data:
We will only process the data provided to us for the purposes covered by your consent or otherwise included in a provision in accordance with the GDPR. We store the data in our CRM system and use it, on the basis of justifiable interest, to send you information about our company, products and innovations, as well as invitations to interesting events. The data is not disclosed to third parties. Furthermore, data included on business cards that you have given to us in the context of a personal meeting (a trade fair or other event) is also used for the purposes stated here.
3. Data retention
We will not retain data for longer than is necessary to fulfill our contractual or legal obligations and to avoid any possible liability claims. Data for marketing and promotional purposes will be retained until we receive a notice of revocation of the consent previously provided.
4. Data security
We use appropriate organizational and technical precautions to protect your personal data. These precautions specifically include protections against unauthorized, unlawful or accidental access, processing, loss, use and manipulation.
Notwithstanding our efforts to maintain a consistently high level of due diligence, it cannot be ruled out that information you provide to us over the Internet will be viewed and used by others.
Therefore, please note that we accept no liability whatsoever for the disclosure of information based on errors that we have not caused in the transfer of the data and/or through unauthorized access by third parties (e.g. a hacking attack to an email account).
5. Recipients of the data
Your personal data, including your name, address, telephone number, company, company position, and email address will occasionally be transmitted to contracted processors with which Edizon has concluded a specific processing agreement, including the following:
This website uses functions included in Google Analytics web analytics services. The service provider is Google Inc. 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway Mountain View, CA 94043, USA. Google Analytics uses “cookies”. Cookies are text files that are stored on your computer and that allow analysis of your use of the website. The information generated by the cookie about your use of this website is usually transmitted to a Google server in the USA and stored there.
Google uses this information on our behalf to evaluate your use of the website, to compile reports on website activity and to provide other services related to website activity and Internet usage to the website operator. During this processing, pseudonymous usage profiles of users can be created from the processed data.
We only use Google Analytics with IP anonymization activated. This means that the user’s IP address is shortened by Google within European Union Member States or in other States included in the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases is the full IP address sent to a Google server in the USA and shortened there. The IP address provided from your browser by Google Analytics is not merged with other Google data.
You can prevent storage of cookies by changing the settings in your browser software. You can also prevent the collection by Google of cookie-generated and website-related data and the processing of this data by Google by downloading and installing the browser plug-in available at the following link: http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=de
You can prevent the collection by Google Analytics by clicking on the following link. An opt-out cookie will be set that will prevent the future collection of your data when you visit this website. Deactivate Google Analytics
For more information about Google’s use of data, setting and opt-out options, please visit Google’s websites:
7. Newsletter and consents
The following information will tell you about the contents of our newsletter, the registration, distribution and statistical evaluation procedures used, and your right of objection. By subscribing to our newsletter, you agree to its receipt and the procedures described.
We distribute newsletters, emails and other electronic notifications that contain advertising information (hereinafter “newsletters”) only with the consent of the recipient or legal permission. If the contents of a newsletter are specifically described, they are authoritative for the consent of the users. Incidentally, our newsletters contain information about the topic of growth based on innovation.
Double opt-in and logging
Registration for our newsletter is done using a double opt-in procedure. This means that after you register, you will receive an email requesting that you confirm your registration. This confirmation is necessary to prevent anyone from registering with email addresses that do not belong to them. Your registration for the newsletter is logged for proof of the registration process according to the legal requirements. This includes storage of the login and confirmation time, as well as the IP address. Changes to your data stored with MailChimp are also logged.
Use of the distribution service provider “MailChimp”
The newsletter is distributed by MailChimp, a newsletter distribution platform owned by the US service provider Rocket Science Group, LLC, 675 Ponce De Leon Ave NE #5000, Atlanta, GA 30308, USA.
The email addresses of our newsletter recipients, as well as their other data as described in these notes, are stored on MailChimp’s servers in the USA. MailChimp uses this information to distribute and evaluate the newsletters on our behalf. Furthermore, MailChimp may, according to its own information, use this data to optimize or improve its own services, e.g. for technical optimization of the distribution and presentation of the newsletter or for business purposes, to determine from which countries the recipients come. However, MailChimp does not use the data of our newsletter recipients to contact them directly or to pass the data on to third parties.
To register for the newsletter, you only need to provide your email address and name. This information is only used for personalization of the newsletter. We also ask that you provide additional data on an optional basis. We only use this information to adapt the content of the newsletter to the interests of our readers.
Statistical surveys and analyses
The newsletters contain a “web beacon,” which is a one pixel-sized file that is accessed by the MailChimp server when the newsletter is opened. During this access, technical information is first collected, such as information about the browser and your system, as well as your IP address and the access time. This information is used to improve the technical performance of services based on technical data or target audiences and their reading habits, which are based on their access locations (which can be determined using the IP address) or access times.
Statistical surveys also include a technical feature to determine whether the newsletters are opened, when they are opened and which links are clicked. For technical reasons, this information can be assigned to the individual newsletter recipients. However, neither we nor MailChimp want to observe individual users. The evaluations are instead focused on helping us recognize the reading habits of our users and to adapt our content to them or to send different content according to the interests of our users.
Online access and data management
You can cancel (i.e. revoke your consent to) the receipt of our newsletter at any time. This will also revoke your consent to MailChimp sending it to you and the statistical analyses will also automatically stop. A separate revocation of the newsletter distribution to you by MailChimp and the statistical evaluation is unfortunately not possible. You can find a link to cancel the newsletter at the end of each newsletter.
Legal basis for the General Data Protection Regulation
In accordance with the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which went into effect on May 25, 2018, we would like to inform you that the consents to the sending of email addresses are based on Art. 6 (1) letter A and Art. 7 GDPR. The use of the mail service provider MailChimp to carry out statistical surveys and analyses and to log the registration process is based on our legitimate interests in accordance with. Art. 6 (1) letter f GDPR. Our interests are focused on using a user-friendly and secure newsletter system that serves both our business interests and the expectations of our users.
We would also like to point out that you can reject further processing of your personal data at any time in accordance with the statutory provisions of Art. 21 GDPR. You can specifically reject processing for direct marketing purposes.
8. Contact form
If you send us inquiries via the contact form, we will store your details from the inquiry form, including the contact details you provide there, in order to process the request and in case of follow-up questions. With your consent, we use your data for advertising purposes, such as event invitations. You can revoke this consent at any time. We will not share your information without your consent.
Most of the cookies we use are “session cookies”. They are automatically deleted after your visit. Other cookies remain stored on your device until you delete them. These cookies allow us to recognize your browser the next time you visit our website.
You can set your browser so that you are informed about the setting of cookies and so that cookies are only allowed in individual cases, so that cookies are only allowed for certain pre-determined cases, or so that cookies are generally excluded and all cookies are automatically deleted when you close the browser. Deactivating cookies may limit the functionality of this website.
10. Server log files
The website provider automatically collects and stores information in server log files, which your browser automatically transmits to us. These are:
We use the log data only for statistical evaluations for the purpose of operation and safety. We reserve the right to check this data retrospectively if we become aware of specific indications of illegal use.
11. Your rights
As a data subject in the sense of the data protection law, you have the following specific rights:
If you believe that the processing of your data violates the data protection law or that your privacy claims have otherwise been violated in any way, you may file a complaint with the Data Protection Authority.
If the data processing is based on your consent, you may revoke your consent to data processing at any time in writing (email is sufficient) by sending an email to email@example.com. A revocation has no effect on the legality of the data processing that was carried out on the basis of the consent up to the time of the revocation.
12. Social plugins
The website contains social plugins (“plugins”) from the following social networks:
When you visit a website that includes one of these plugins, your browser connects directly to the LinkedIn, Xing, YouTube, and Meetup servers. The content of the plugin is transmitted by the respective provider directly to your browser and incorporated by it into the website. By integrating the plugins, the providers receive the information that you have accessed the corresponding page of our website, even if you have no profile on the respective social networks or are currently not logged in with your profile.
If you are logged in to one of the social networks, the provider can assign the visit to our website to your profile on the respective social networks. In case of interactions with the plugins, e.g. if you click on the “Like” button, the corresponding information is also transmitted directly to a server of the social network provider and stored there. In addition, the information in the social network will be published on your account and displayed there in your contacts.
13. Linking to other websites
14. Revocation of advertising emails
The use of published contact information from the required imprint or comparable information, such as mailing addresses, telephone and fax numbers and email addresses for sending unsolicited advertising and information materials is hereby prohibited. The operators of the website expressly reserve the right to take legal action in the event of the unsolicited sending of advertising information, for example through spam emails.
